VAMPIRE ACADEMY INFORMATION for newbies and veterans DhampirsHalf-human, half-vampire species. Usually born from Moroi and human parents however even when Dhampir’s mate with Moroi the resulting child will always be a Dhampir, only half vampire.
The majority of male Dhampir’s train to become guardians but many women alternatively choose to have children. These women usually come together and live in communes
Dhampir men and women are unable to procreate and so Dhampir women rely on Moroi men (who usually use Dhampir’s for sex) for children.
Many women allow the Moroi to drink from them whilst having sex – which is where the term blood whore comes from, this act is regarded as disgraceful to many Dhampir and Moroi alike.
Dhampir enjoy better senses than humans like sight and strength, they are not bothered by sunlight and don’t need to survive off blood. Their genetic makeup make them perfect choices for Moroi guardians
From an early age Dhampir’s are taught to believe that they should protect the Moroi above anything else. They come first.

MoroiThere are twelve royal Moroi families: -Badica -Conta -Dashkov -Dragomir -Drozdov -Ivashkov -Lazar -Ozera -Szelsky -Tarus -Voda -Zeklos
These families are in the council which governs the way the Moroi world is ran. They are allowed one member of each family to be in the council, typically a head of household.
You are allowed to make a "non-royal" Moroi.
Moroi are mortal vampires who can eat food but need human blood too survive – though they never kill, instead they rely on feeders. If a Moroi kills whilst feeding he/she would loose his/her magic and turn Strigoi. Since magic is alive and Strigoi aren’t it’s impossible for them to wield it.
Although they have the ability to fight, their reliance on their guardians has rendered them practically useless – although many Moroi want Moroi to use their magic offensively again and stand beside their guardians.
The sun is uncomfortable and painful for them but unlike the Strigoi they won’t burn in the sun.
Moroi are gifted with magic and they normally specialize in one elemental power; air, water, fire and spirit. No matter what their element most Moroi can use compulsion, although they are taught not too. Spirit users tend to be stronger users of compulsion.

StrigoiStrigoi are humans, Moroi and Dhampirs that have either been turned or have chosen immortality over life. When turned Strigoi totally loose their humanity and become blood thirsty creatures.Strigoi are inhumanly fast and strong. They rely solely on blood and always kill for it. Moroi blood makes them stronger which is why they hunt them.
Sunlight is very harmful to Strigoi and if they are exposed for too long they will burn. Silver stakes (which have been charmed with all four Moroi elements) are also lethal to Strigoi, only a blow to the heart or decapitation will kill them but a scratch with a silver stake will harm the Strigoi enough to give the Guardian chance to stake it.
Although not harmful to Strigoi, Wards, charged with magic will keep Strigoi from entering a dwelling.. ( HUMANS can break these wards)

AlchemistsAlchemist’s are humans charged with helping Moroi and Dhampir’s keep their societies secret.
Alchemist’s have an elaborate design of flowers and leaves tattooed in gold on their lower left cheeks. These tattoos are made from gold and Moroi blood charmed with earth and water.
Their charmed tattoo acts as a reward, allowing them to lead longer lives and stops them from becoming ill. The charm also prevents them from speaking about the supernatural world in a way that would expose it.
Like Dhampir’s the Alchemist “career” is somewhat compulsory and passed down through family.
Alchemist’s work connections amongst humans that allow them to cover up for Moroi and Dhampir’s – they have “tricks and techniques” that allow them to dispose of Strigoi bodies.
They believe all vampires, even Moroi and Dhampir’s are evil “creatures of the night” and try to keep as distanced as possible.
